Love her or hate her, Wendy
Williams is a fabulous diva who calls it like it is. During the
recent FFANY Shoes on Sale gala at New York’s famous Waldorf Astoria,
I caught up with the radio-turned-TV personality to do what Wendy
does best ... gossip. Find out why this bagista swears off of Marc
Jacobs bags and what you’ll find in her
bag-a-licious closet.

What bag are you currently obsessing over?
My Louis Vuitton Steamer Bag. I was on a wait-list, for it.
Are you a bag snob?
I’m not such a bag snob when it comes to evening bags. I can find
something cute on QVC or in Marshalls. Or I can find something cute
at YSL. I do have some Judith Leiber evening bags, but,
surprisingly, they’re not necessarily my favorites.
What about daytime bags?
With my day bags, I’m a bag snob all the way. They’ve got to become
legends before I will carry them. And I’m talking about legends in
the bag game. Like, I respect Marc Jacobs, but I’m a bag snob. I’m
not buying a Marc Jacobs bag. No. No. No.
Wow, no MJ? Not even that fabulous Stammer bag?
No. The newest designer that I bought was Thomas Wilde. It has the
skeletons inside, the big skeleton on the outside, and I only wear
that bag after dark going to the club. Its so rock-n-roll, you know
what I mean?
Are you as crazed about clothing, as you are with bags?
I will dress in something from Target or something from
H&M, and mix
from someplace upscale. Clothes don’t really matter.
What are you wearing today?
A fabulous Norma Kamalli dress. I wear Norma Kamalli on my show all
the time and I’ve been shopping the brand since I was in high
school.
If BagTrends raided your accessories closet, what would we find?
Well, I’ve got one of three Gucci Boston bags - the only one that
they made in bright green, I have a Nancy Gonzalez crocodile bag. I
was just in Chicago and I got a Fendi, you know the big belt buckle
bag.
The B Bag.
Yes, I got the big daytime version, just in plain black leather. I
also have five Birkin handbags … I’ll wear Coach shoes, but I won’t
wear Coach bags.
Any bag-a-licious advise for BagTrends readers?
A great bag is essential. A bag can take you 25 pounds up or 25
pounds down. You should covet the bags that stay in your closet
forever and you can pass them on to the girls in your family.
