There was a time when pilots
outshined movie stars, when flight attendants were stewardesses with
chic hats and white gloves, and when Pan Am rules the world – or at
least the skies above it.
Pan Am’s wings may have been clipped
in 1991 when the company took its last flight, but it’s about to sore
into the fashion world with the latest arrival of travel bags baring the
brands iconic logo. In honor of Pan
Am’s 80th Anniversary the brand is reissuing a core group of twelve
travel/cabin bags. Each bag depicts a timeline in the company’s history
from the very first Pan American Airways bags PAA winged logo to the
iconic Pan Am Blie Globe logo used today.
The collection has a retro feel that’s
in sync with fashions current fascination with all things sixties. The
color pallet is all
blue and white, traditional Pan Am. Expect different
variations of carry-on bags (which double as great gym bags) in bowler,
tote,
shoulder and
messenger styles.
There will also be a Limited Edition
Anniversary Collection incorporating the vintage travel poster artwork
that was commissioned by Pan Am from internationally renowned artists
Norman Rockwell, Peter Max and Ian Marshall.
