Bag-a-licious Love: Leopard, giraffe, and zebra – oh my!

Credit Card Damage: $200+

With safari and tribal as prevalent trends for the summer, animalistic accessories will be the purr-fect accoutrements to your belted dresses and slouchy wide-leg pants.

While most ladies save their leopard or zebra for a night on the town - à la Cameron Diaz and Sarah Jessica Parker (with a Dolce & Gabbana clutch) - the truly bold answer the call of the wild everyday. Rihanna carries the YSL leopard Fauve bag, while Jessica Simpson prefers her leopard in the form of a Roberto Cavalli tote. Style-setter Gwen Stefani no doubt favors animal prints from her own L.A.M.B. line. Catherine Zeta Jones and Cynthia Nixon also partake in the animal party.

Those who are looking to remain the queen of the fashion jungle can make like celebs and splurge on a high-end piece from the likes of YSL, Jimmy Choo, or of course, Dolce & Gabbana.

If you don’t feel like breaking the bank quite yet, there are some equally stylish choices for less out there. Clutch master Lauren Merkin has a zebra clutch  that you won’t be able to live without this summer. The Cassie tote and Char clutch ($200) are made of linen, which make them chic options for beach and shopping trips. Accessories line Felix Rey  (Gossip Girl Leighton Meester is a fan) offers many fun leopard options for daytime as well. The Leopard Tote ($390) with patent trim is great to lug around all your summer essentials, while the glossy Marissa leopard clutch ($340) is super sexy for cocktails with the girls. For giraffe, no one does it better than Catherine Rapetti. The line offers straightforward silhouettes such as the Emily ($350) clutch and Margaret totes ($520-$650).

But beware: too much animal print can scream road-kill. The key to keeping the trend fierce is letting the accessory steal the spotlight – try it with your fave LBD. When you feel a bit more daring, experiment by mixing animal and ethnic or tribal prints for a look all your own. You are woman, hear you roarrr!
