Zohar the Brush Wizard
Pam gets a new look - part I
BY: Pamela Pekerman

I’m always on the hunt for great makeup tips that will help me take that to-die-for picture. You know the one you want to e-mail your ex and say “You really messed up!” Well, I recently turned to Zohar Wolf, a makeup expert at the Bobbi Brown counter at Saks Fifth Avenue in New York City, for advice. Zohar went to school for theatrical makeup and special effects in Israel, and has been with Bobbi Brown for 3 years – and boy does he knows his stuff! Zohar shares his tips on how to achieve glowing eyes. He’ll also correct any misconceptions you and I might have about correctors and concealers.

First - the difference:
1. Corrector takes out the blue and purple from under your eyes. “You have to use this before the concealer. Otherwise, you will still have dark patches.” Now, that you have gotten rid of the darkness and discoloration, move on to your concealer.
2. A concealer is used to brighten the eye. “To  brighten up darkness, the corrector must go first.” This how you begin to achieve that J-lo glow.

Now – the application:
1. Take your brush and dab a little bit of corrector into the corner of your eye, blending outwards. Go only about half way. “You don’t want to use your fingers because they are oily. Find a good brush.”

2. Then, starting on the outer eye area, apply your concealer. The corrector and concealer meet at the halfway mark. “Dab with your brush to make sure there are no lines. We dab because that pushed the product into the skin. When you rub, you are actually taking it off.”
3. Finally, apply a setting powder with your brush. There should be VERY little power on just the tip of the brush. “Again dab all along the under eye. If you need to freshen up during the day, wash your index finger and just dab under the eye a bit.”

Final tips from Zohar:
1. BLEMISH BLUNDER - If you have a blemish, do not cover it with under-eye concealer. “When we have darkness under the eye we use light and creamy concealer, but when we want to cover a blemish we need to use a blemish stick that is one tone darker then our face in order to cover. If we use the concealer that we use under the eyes on a blemish, its light and will show through.”
2. NOSE - You can use corrector around your nose, if you have some discoloration.
3. COLOR CHOICES - “If you have a lot of redness around your eyes, the last colors you need to use are purples and browns because they have red in them and will make you look tired.”
