And the award for best accessory goes to…

Forget about who took home Best Picture or Best Director…the Academy Awards are really all about Best Accessorized! While the lovely ladies of the evening showed off an array of dazzling gowns on the red carpet, it’s their accoutrements that have got BagTrends a-buzzing!

SWAG-A-LICIOUS
For starters, the lucky nominees for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress, including Penelope Cruz and Kate Winslet, received an adorable Cue Card Case in Oscar gold courtesy of Lauren Merkin. The unique accessory was created to hold the nominee’s acceptance speech and is also etched with helpful reminders like “Don’t forget to thank your husband,” “Always act surprised,” and “Don’t forget waterproof mascara.” Hey, at least if they didn’t win, they walked away with a limited edition piece!

But, Merkin’s Oscar appearances didn’t end there.

RED CARPET ARM CANDY
At the uber-exclusive and legendary Vanity Fair Oscar Party, stylish gals turned to the designer for her trademark understated, yet chic clutch to hold their necessities. Isla Fisher, Mia Maestro, and Marley Shelton chose the classic Eve in versatile satin to complement their frocks, while the fierce Tyra Banks set herself apart with the sexy Grace box clutch in python.

GET YOUR BAG ON
For bagistas who don’t have red carpet fetes to attend, you can still get a piece of the Oscar action. The Eve starts at $165 and comes in a dizzying assortment of fabrics, including ladylike Venice lace and glam gold perforated lambskin. For daytime, the line offers leather basket-weave clutches in red, black, and gunmetal. The website also allows you to monogram your initials on the inside flap for that extra special touch to make it all your own. Really, who needs a little gold statuette anyways?
