On September 6th, during New York Fashion Week, ZAC POSEN unveiled a limited-edition red leather tote with yellow stitching and a yellow canvas handle with red stitching, which kicked off the "Tote for Teachers" campaign.

Zac and DHL partnered to raise money and awareness for TeachersCount through this campaign. The totes are sold exclusively online at www.toteforteachers.org for $400. For each bag sold, DHL - which has generously underwritten the entire project! - will donate 100% of the proceeds to TeachersCount.

Zac took some time out to chat with BagTrends about his involvement with TeachersCount and his vision for Spring/Summer 2008.

BagTrends: What brings you out here tonight?
Zac Posen: I'm here to support the official charity of my company TeachersCount which is a charity that raised public awareness for the importance of teachers.

BT: How are you helping this great cause?
Zac: Today we are raising money by selling the bags. In the past we've just held functions and events to raise money for this not-for-profit charity.

BT: What did you have in mind for this bag?
Zac: I designed this bag to be fun, feminine, easily accessible and a little sporty. The bag's vibrant red and yellow colors were inspired by the signature colors of my partner, DHL, a company that travels the world transporting so many valuable shipments. My hope is that fashionable and civic-minded ladies will carry the bag in acknowledgement of the very special teachers in their lives.

BT: Speaking of bags, Bagistas everywhere want to know what they can expect from your Spring/Summer 2008 line?
Zac: Well we will continue with our iconic Alexis group, but on the runway we have an amazing new group which is about raising the level of what a professional women can carry. So you can carry your laptops in them, you can carry makeup in them?.

BT: So we'll have Zac Posen laptop bags?
Zac: They aren't laptop bags, but they are attach? they're briefcases. They are briefcases elongated for evening. They have perforated detailing.

BT: What are your important colors for the spring/summer 2008 season?
Zac: I'm into really bright, vibrant bags in a matte finish and luxurious. It's about creating a bag that's competitive on the level with Hermes.

BT: Any chance we'll be seeing Zac Posen luggage soon?
Zac: Potentially. You can't do luggage in spring because you need more of a backpack. But for fall 08, potentially. I would say our attach? bags are on their way.
