At BagTrends we’re all about supporting up-and-coming
designers…especially if
Project Runway is on their resumé. Victorya Hong was undeservedly
kicked off the hit show this week, but the 35-year-old was still able to
present her collection
na•be at New York
Fashion Week without the Project Runway machine behind her.
The runway show started with strong menswear-inspired looks and later
gave way to more refined 80’s trends. Sleeveless tux jackets, pleated
blouses, and black satin cummerbunds were très chic and Kate Moss-esque.
Pleat front trousers, double-breasted jackets, and neon yellow silk
charmeuse vests were the designer’s homage to 80’s cult classics like
“The Breakfast Club,” “Heathers,” and “The Cosby Show.” Nine West
provided black booties and patent pumps to polish off the looks.
Hong’s vision of fall is a sharpened version of fall 2007 and is
slightly reminiscent of classic Yves Saint Laurent – always a good
thing.

Color Palette: black, gray, ivory, plum, and pops
of neon yellow
Standout Looks: a gorgeous black wool cape and
the belted tux dresses
For the Bagistas Who: is practical and needs a
sturdy top-handle bag
