February 2, 2007—Fashion Week is like one big party
– the clothes, the cocktails, the beautiful people. Amongst the hype,
the fashion itself can easily be forgotten; so what’s a designer to do?
Well, if you’re
Irina
Shabayeva, you turn your fashion show into one big party!
Shabayeva’s swanky show took place at BED, an ultra-trendy nightclub in
the heart of Chelsea. The club floor was turned into a makeshift runway,
with models strutting amongst well-heeled, cocktail-sipping attendees.
The glamorous setting was the perfect complement to
Shabayeva’s luxurious collection of cocktail-worthy attire, inspired by
the decadence of the 1920’s flapper era and the liveliness of the Art
Deco movement. Included in the mix were party dresses in rich jewel
tones like scarlet and sapphire; ensembles of fur, plaids, and laces;
and glamorous embellished eveningwear. Geometric patterns and bold
outlines conveyed the essence of Art Deco, while jersey mini dresses
were made for dancing - guaranteed to make any party girl swoon.
After the show, I offered my congratulations to
Shabayeva herself, who looked every bit the party girl in a gorgeous
turquoise mini. If one thing’s certain, it’s that this girl sure knows
how to throw a party!
For the Bagista Who: needs a
clutch with no
fuss, so she can dance the night away
