February 5, 2007—If you find yourself scouring the contemporary floor of
Saks for one of Nanette’s cutesy signature suits this autumn, maybe
you’ll be in better luck next season. Fall 2007 is more tomboy than the
frilly silhouettes and accents Lepore is know for. You’ll get lost in a
world of Irish Knit sweaters, Barbour coats and Hound’s Tooth. High-waisted
trousers in finely woven tweeds were paired with oversized plaid
trenches and skin skimming silks. Bubble hem coats and mohair skirts,
with metallic wools mixed and matched their way through the collection
in shades ranging from bronze to beige.
Just because Nanette Lepore flaunted her inner tomboy for Fall ‘07
doesn’t mean she skimped on the sexiness. While dresses from previous
seasons may have been about baring as much décolleté as possible, 2007
is all about ‘how low can you go’ in the back. Rich velvet prints
transformed into party dresses with plunging scoop backs and ruffled
bell sleeve tops, while barebacked beauties sashayed down the runway in
swanky little sparklers fit for dancing the night away. Sequins, lamés
and shimmers infused a sense of femininity back into the collection.

Color Palette: Violets, purples, plums and a browns along with
rusts, coppers and olives round out Nanette’s autumn shades.
Celebrity Sightings: Meredith Melling Burke of Vogue sat
front-row. (She’s a celeb to all us loyal Voguettes!)
For the Bagista Who: has a sense of whimsy and a touch of tomboy
