February 6, 2007—I was casually minding my own business reading WWD when
a lovely pr gal asked if I wanted to watch the Monique Lhuillier show.
??!! pause !!?? Yes! So, watch I did, and now I want to shop it!
I’m always a fan of sharp tailored skirts, structured silhouettes, and
clothing that is elegant without being too doughty. Lhuillier did
timeless elegance her own way and for the modern woman. Gorgeous
cocktail dresses and gowns in Chantilly lace, chiffon, silk tulle and
wool jersey glided down the runway.

Metallics was a big hit appearing in various forms and fabrics –
chiffons, lame, floral brocade, and copper metallic discs. The later was
woven into an asymptotical gown which made some noise when it sashayed
across the runway. And while it’s probably really heavy I think it would
make a fabulous Oscar dress and I’m sure some smart stylist will snatch
it up.
Color Palette: gold, smoke, silver, black, steel grey, gunmetal
Standout Looks: gunmetal textured lame asymmetrical cocktail
dress; metallic floral bolero; deep V-neck ruffled and pleated gown in
blush pink
For The Bagista Who: will appreciate the modernly sophisticated
Lulu Guinness fall/winter 07/08 offerings
