February 3, 2007—Raised in Puerto Rico, but a
former, longtime resident of New York, Gustavo Arango's runway shows
always fuse a vibrant passion of Puerto Rico with the modern edge of NY. For fall/winter 2007/2008 his gowns and cocktail dresses were
amazing, soon-to-be Red Carpet winners. He used a lot of iridescent
fabric, which seems to be a trend among a few
designers this season. A
silk chiffon blouse paired s black silk-satin skirt or a slate-colored
satin organza blouse with slate silk-tweed pants, were some great
separates - though I think I would were a bra under my blouse :). As for
beauty, hair was up in loose curls and faces were soft, but glamorous.
Color Palette: amber, black, various grays, plum, copper, emerald
Standout Looks: emerald silk chiffon gown with black jade silk
satin
bodice; Amber-beaded silk chiffon gown; champagne silk chiffon blouson
dress
For the Bagista Who: loves color and can pull off fall's must-have mustard-yellow
day
clutch
