February 6, 2007—Some collection scream their theme or inspiration, but
Chaiken’s semi-Indian influences were subtle and not a dominating mantra
for each look - using several beaded belts that had an ethnic flair,
draping a silk black sari over a cashmere turtle neck and covering the
runway in Indian carpets. Overall, the collection was casual, with loose
wool trousers, tons of cardigans and plenty of knitwear. A shock of
colored cashmere floor length dresses closed out the show. The colors
were a nice touch at the end, but the low-waisted hit of the bottom
portion of the dress will only work on super tall and super skinny gals.
