February 2, 2007—While sitting in the Player’s Club
waiting for the
Alice
Ritter show to start, I felt like I was invading a private men’s
club – and, in fact, I was. The traditional mahogany-paneled walls, the
portraits of previous members and the chandeliers adorned with antlers
was once home to a gentlemen’s cultural club founded in 1888.
The historic and warm setting seemed right for the
French-born, Alice Ritter’s Edwardian-inspired collection of fitted,
cropped jackets with gathered sleeves, alongside crisp, button-front
shirts. Wool was a dominate fabric choice which created a masculine
undertone. There was no in-betweens, as volume was either over the top
or non existent (such as the showing of either wide leg pants or
streamlines pants with side fasteners.)
Color Palette: Dark shades from black and
grey to rich olive greens and royal purples
Standout Looks: A plum off-the shoulder dress
with side bow
Silk blouse with accordion sleeves
For the Bagista Who: Loves to be in love with
soft fabrics and sweet colors
