February 3, 2007—For fall 2007, Alexandre
Herchcovitch started off his show with pretty, white peacoats, but the
mood quickly changed as the pale models strolled out in a sea of blue
and green florals, flannels, and paisleys finished off with straw hats
that can best be described as farmer-esque. After a few chic black
numbers, pieced together with scraps of vinyl and satin, came down the
runway, the mood of the tent altered yet again. Eyebrows were raised as
brave models walked out in—ready?—garbage bags.
But the surprises weren’t quite over. The climax of Herchcovitch’s show
definitely belonged to the two models that somberly walked out together
in a brown and blue plaid jumpsuit and a long black coat that would have
been cute if not topped off with a black chiffon veil that made her
resemble a sad widow.
Though the wearability of the clothes is questionable, the show was
deliciously eerie and stimulating. Gals, keep your fingers crossed that
Hefty bags aren’t the next big trend!
