February 10, 2006—New mom, Monique Lhuillier, presented a Fall 2006
collection inspired by true 60’s couture. Voluminous silhouettes where
created with exaggerated collars, bubble skirts and baby doll dresses. Using
rich brocades and luxurious jacquards, Lhuillier demonstrated nostalgia for
the age of glamour and grace. With a salt and pepper fine brocade tailored
dress and matching heather-gray, satin gloved, the Lhuillier woman is ready
for the opera matinee. The look most likely to be scene on a red-carpet
starlet is a black re-embroidered lace sheath with exaggerated collar. –

February 6, 2006—Lewis Albert plunged himself into the New York fashion industry this past Sunday. Still a senior at Harvard, Lewis drew a powerful crowd of insiders including Anna Wintour,
Bill Cunningham of the New York Times, and Linda Wells from Allure, for a
knockout runway show of his first full collection. For Fall 2006 Lewis drew
inspiration from the "bewitching and, at times, scandalous lifestyles" of
the legendary Mitford sisters: an eclectic crew of six outspoken society
girls born into early 20th century Britain. He created 23 looks with
chocolate brown and heather wools, embellishing them in jewel-toned silks.
Carefully tailored silhouettes floated down the catwalk with swinging
hemlines and playful pleats. The charm of each outfit came from its
imaginative blend of color and texture, meant to evoke the "duality of the
Mitford aesthetic." Showstoppers included a strapless gown of Atlantic-blue
duchess satin, fitted down to knee, from where it splays open into an
espresso-colored cashmere train. - BagTrends.com

February 4, 2006—“Rebellious Luxury,” that’s the theme for Alexandre Herchcovitch’s 2006 Fall/Winter Collection. Throughout the show, he mixed conflicting ideas into harmonious beauty. The runway was divided by Renaissance inspired flags, while modern rock beats blasted through the air. The clothes were equally as opposite: flowy, floral dresses with biker inspired leather jackets and buckled leather stiletto boots. Get ready girls, it looks like we’re in for a wild fall season! -
