“Do not wish to be anything but what you are, and try to be
that perfectly.”
These are the words of Jenny Yuen, downtown New
York's newest young, independent handbag designer. In Spring
2007, with the production of her first collection of
eye-catching, yet functional handbags, she has hit the
ground running while also realizing a dream. A native
Southern Californian with a unique blend of Chinese and
Japanese ancestry, Jenny developed an early appreciation for
the arts. Exploring the arts further, she attended Boston
University, receiving a BFA in sculpture and painting,
followed by Parson's School of Design in New York to study
Fashion. Jenny's ambition to combine her love for both the
arts and fashion led her to Takashi Murakami Studios where
she worked as an artist assistant on a collaborative project
with Marc Jacobs, culminating in one of the most recognized
monograms in the industry -the Louis Vuitton "Eye Love" and
"Cherry Blossom". She then went on to design collections for
major fresh players in the industry such as Craig Robinson,
Jill Stuart, and recent success, Twinkle by Wenlan. With
knowledge gained, yet soul unsatisfied, Jenny decided to
follow her true inspiration and design her own handbag
collections. Fresh on the scene, Jenny Yuen handbags have
been featured in such national publications as LUCKY
magazine, and are rapidly developing a following among the
downtown’s fashionable elite. |
