“I have the Rebecca Minkoff Mini in Almond and the leather is getting dirty. What should I use to clean it?”

Dear Anny,
Sometimes even the Bag Guru needs to seek advice; that’s why I called Wayne Edelman of Meurice Garment Care in New York .

Meurice Garment Care is a fashion cleaning staple used by the likes of Giorgio Armani and Martha Stuart. Wayne recommends that cowhide, which is the type of leather your bag is made of, should really be trusted to the professionals. “If you do try any chemical soaps of solvents, test an inconspicuous area.” But, again he stressed this isn’t an at-home job especially since this leather is most likely what Wayne calls “analying leather” which is very absorbent and when you try to clean it you may permanently alter the color of the leather. If the leather was “painted” or had a finishing coat, baby wipes may have done the trick.

Anny, I’m sorry that I couldn’t be of more help. I do recommend visiting www.MeuriceGarmentCare.com  or calling them 1-800-240-3377. Bag cleanings start at $75. You can also try finding something a bit more affordable in your area, but be careful. If you really love this bag I would go with the best care possible.
